Colonel Paul T. Shorock grew up in Kearny, New Jersey and is a graduate of Ottawa University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. He was commissioned through Officer Training School in 1970. He spent the majority of his career in flying operations. He was assigned to a Standardization/Evaluation crew that first employed B-52G aircraft in Strategic Air Command's Southeast Asia operations. At Loring AFB, Maine, he developed the first sea surveillance tactics for the B-52 and flew the unit's first Red Flag sorties. He was the last 77th Bombardment Squadron operations officer to fly the B-52H and its first to fly the B-1B. For the period he commanded the 77th, it won the Ryan Award recognizing the best bombardment squadron in Strategic Air Command. After attending the Air War College, Colonel Shorock was assigned to Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. He was part of the initial cadre of United States Strategic Command, was its first Chief of the Weaponeering Branch and later he became the Chief of Strike Planning Branch. His initial responsibility at the Air Force Inspection Agency was as a team chief performing Quality Air Force Assessments. He next served as Director of Field Inspection. Later he served as Director of Operations, Support and Development, and in this capacity he led the staff responsible for information, financial, personnel, and computer support to the agency's global commitment. Colonel Shorock served in the Test Support Directorate where he was the Deputy Director for Year 2000 (Y2K) Matters, Headquarters Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC), Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. He led a team of forty people supporting three unified commands and the major air commands in their assessments of Y2K computer readiness. Colonel Shorock is married to the former Joan Jones of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Their daughter, Rachel is currently attending Abilene Christian University. |
